Moving Mountains

“Fantasy Panorama – The Cascades and Coast” – 36″ x 72″ acrylic on canvas – SOLD

Most of my inspiration for creating paintings is visual, but at least one of my paintings was inspired by a radio commercial that got repeated endlessly throughout the day. The station was saying that their broadcasts were heard from the Cascades to the coast. After a while, I started picturing in my mind how that would look. I finally looked at a photo of each of the mountains in the Cascades, kept their correct order, but moved them closer together and created this painting.

It sold fairly soon, but that is not the end to the story. When the pandemic first hit and people were confined to their homes, many of them chose jigsaw puzzles for their entertainment and Pomegranate Communications printed a 1,000-piece puzzle of this painting, renaming it “The Cascades”.

I was so intrigued with the fantasy panorama concept that I created another painting, combining several coastal scenes with the same colors as the first painting.
